In the 1950s Pullman Standard began offering new standard designs for their coal hoppers. One of these was the 70 ton three bay coal hopper with a rated volume of 2,750 cubic feet. The carbody had sixteen side posts and was available with and without heap shields on the car ends. Later an 80
