Aechmea setigera HONDURAS A small hybrid from AustraliaA denizen of the Amazon forests of Venezuela to Bolivia where it forms colonies on exposed trees and becomes home to a variety of local wildlife. The plants are rather large, growing to over 30 inches, somewhat bottle shaped at the base and exceedingly spiny. Long black spines decorate the leaf margins and the inflorescence, which is a rather cone shaped spike. A good, hardy landscape bromeliad.
