As I paint these ribbons of green, I think about afternoon rays weaving in and out of stoic shafts of pines and larches. Fresh beads of chartreuse burst from tips of branches. Down on the forest floor, pockets of mossy wonderlands reveal themselves within brief spotlights. They shimmer under the sun's attention. And burgeoning bulbs peep through pockets of damp soil. In the centre of this piece is a
