Chinese Spring Bench From Shanxi - 19th Century Garden Also called uruli or charakkuKnown as spring benches, these pretty Chinese benches used to be seen outside shops and small restaurants in China and used by both staff and customers to enjoy the fresh air. Constructed from elm, this one is from Shanxi Province. It is carved with a beautiful cloud motif and dates to the 19th century. Please note that the legs of all these benches are splayed.
