Vintage Painted Pithara Console Chest Cotton Still perfectly functionalThis fabulously decorative Indian chest is a copy of an old Gujarati pithara dowry chest. It is shallower than traditional pithara dowry chests making it practical as a console table or sideboard. Constructed from teak wood with hand forged iron banding, it has been painted with traditional Indian designs. This style of pithara is from a Kathi home in Saurashtra and was known in the local dialect as a pataro. The Kathi were a ruling caste in
