The Saptamatrika were seven mother goddesses in Hinduism they are accompanied by an eighth guardian figure, Bhairava, a fearsome manifestation of Shiva. Each mother is a feminine counterpart of a Hindu god. Their names are Brahmani, Maheshvari, Kaumari, Vaishnavi, Varahi, Indrani & Chamunda.
