It is made from teak wood and dates to the 19th century. Beautifully bound in hand forged iron and brass this box features stylised lotuses chip carved into the lid. The lotus flower symbol is found throughout Asia symbolising fertility. These boxes were used in the old days by merchants and traders in the bazaars for storing their cash and ledgers.
