Originally from colonial Ceylon (modern day Sri Lanka), it dates from the 19th century. It is beautifully constructed from jackfruit wood with ebony trim and beading. The double doors are constructed from fielded panels with ebony pilasters. It is an exceptional example of Indo Dutch furniture. Easy to pack down and reconstruct, it likely would have been owned by a
