Gilded Teak Burmese Buddha From Mandalay - 19thC Ancestor Figures weathered patinaAn excellent example of an antique teak gilt and lacquered Mandalay Buddha dating from the 19th century. Buddha is depicted seated in vajrasana, with his right hand gesturing to the earth in the bhumisparsa mudra position. The head originally had a band of small mirrors above the Buddha's forehead, some of which are remaining. The eyes are made from glass.
