Instituted 12 October 1671 by Christian V. (1906 1912 issue). Finely made in Gold consisting of a Latin Cross with red and white enameled arms, the quadrants of the arms joined by stylized Gold crowns, the obverse with gilt inscription of GUD OG KONGEN (GOD AND THE KING) with central royal monogram, reverse with royal monograms in the centre and 12 oclock arm, flanked by dates of 1219 and 1671, with bottom date of
